Tapping into the International Early Talent Market.

Talent Solutions, in partnership with O'Dell Immigration, recently held a webinar focusing on leveraging the international early talent market.

Many people are unaware of the substantial numbers of international students studying in New Zealand. They make up a large percentage of popular and highly competitive fields. Approximately one-third of engineering students, over one-third of IT students, and nearly 20% of accounting students are international. These numbers increase to 50% in various subjects at the postgraduate level.

Tapping into the International Early Talent Market

At Talent Solutions, our primary focus is early talent, and we provide support to organisations in attracting, selecting, and developing intern and graduate programmes.

The competition for talent poses a significant challenge for graduate recruiters, and this challenge is unlikely to diminish any time soon. In the current labour market, which is characterised by a shortage of candidates, organisations face even greater pressure to ensure a robust pipeline of early talent within their business.

As graduate recruiters, we need to give ourselves the best chance of engaging with the most talent. One way to do this is by considering the recruitment of international talent.

Andy O'Dell from O'Dell Immigration shared valuable insights during the webinar, highlighting how New Zealand businesses can easily access the abundant pool of international graduate talent available in Aotearoa.

During the webinar, the obstacles of cost, time, and complexity associated with hiring international talent were addressed and dispelled:

  • Hiring (most) graduate talent incurs zero costs for businesses.

  • There is no time delay between the job offer and (most) graduate talent starting work.

  • The process of having (most) graduate talent join your organisation is simple.

If you were unable to attend the webinar, you can download the PDF slide deck and access the recording through the provided links.

As always, if you have any questions about attraction, selection, development or retention of early talent please reach out to the team at Talent Solutions.
