Student Pulse Report 2019

Student Pulse is the biggest national survey of university students and provides insights into student job-seeking behaviours and much more. Our annual report is now available for Talent Solutions clients.

HIGHLIGHTS

Students are increasingly concerned about meaningful work.

The current student population is predominantly made up of Gen X and Gen Z – they are generally incredibly socially conscious and they want to do meaningful work. When Pulse respondents were asked about the issues that concern them, climate change/ environment and socio-economic inequality both made it into the top 3.

International Students
– Are you missing out?

The New Zealand tertiary population includes 31,325 international students – which is 19%. For certain organisations, you may be cutting your talent pool by 20-30% if you are not considering international students. With the changes over the last year to immigration regulations, international students are now eligible for a 3 year post-study work visa upon graduating, which makes recruiting them into your organisation a much simpler task.
